Higher Usage Patterns

As we are now billing usage from January, we are starting to see an increase in homes possibly experiencing leaks. This could be related to the extremely cold temps we experienced last month.

When it comes to stopping leaks, every second counts. Minor leaks now WILL become major leaks in time if left unrepaired. Signs you can look for include:

  • Water in your yard in unexpected places, especially on a dry day
  • A decrease in water pressure in your home
  • A sound of running water even though showers, dishwashers, washing machines, etc., are not being used

With almost 30,000 customers, HUD cannot identify every property that has a leak. If you’re seeing any of the issues above, or have an unexplained increase in your water consumption, please take action. Also, make sure to review your invoice. Most customers will have meters capable of identifying continuous usage, which will automatically print a *Possible Leak* banner on your invoice.

If you fear you may have a leak, visit our Potential Leak page, or give us a call during business hours at (423) 877-3513.
